Venice, the "Gem of the Adriadic," Sposa del mar, a labyrinth of convoluted islets treaded by canals and linked by more than 400 bridges. Though Venice has changed greatly since the fall of the Republic, in many ways it remains the same: romantic and enduring, its bewitching beauty and uncertain fate ever at the mercy of the lagoon from which it rose.
The following digital "etchings" of Venice, with its narrow bridges and quiet canali were produced from photographs and sketches made between the years 1997 and 2001.
