- Great System
System brought from Costco
I am really impressed with this systems!!
Background: In the last 25 years I have owned 4 video surveillance systems, including this one. The first one was crude and all it did was record video to a very small hard drive. With each new system it got better. This one will be my last because I am getting too old to install and set up a surveillance system. This has really great video, considering it analog, I can actual read a license plate in my driveway.
I got everything working pretty quick after going through the configuration, the hardest was the E-mail, but it works too. For the people having trouble with the E-mail, just make sure everything is correct. With me, the problem was with the on-screen keyboard putting the wrong character in two different places and I didn’t notice right way. The other problem I had was g-mail preferred the g-mail e-mail address in the “User Name” field, not what the setup program said to put there. After the test of e-mail works, go the “Camera”, “Motion”, “Settings tab”, and then “Linkage Action” to enable “send e-mail, this must be done for each camera that you want e-mail notification from. I got a notification each time someone walked into view of that camera, however it took up to 30 minutes to get through the email system, which is not acceptable for me. But here is the secret, contact your cell mobile phone provider and ask them for the E-mail address for your texting service. It usually your phone number +.txt+(.cell phone provider name)+.net. This is confusing to type in a review. Just call your cell phone mobile service provider and ask nicely and they will give it to you. Mine did, it’s AT&T service. You will be tickled pink when your motion detection pings on your cell phone text messaging screen in less than 5 seconds versus up to 30 minutes through e-mail. Try it you’ll like it! I entered the email-to-text conversion address in “Receiver 2” of the “Email” screen, just click on “Select Receiver” and then on “Receiver 2”. “Receiver 1” still goes to my email program, but much slower.
